The Future of Pension Reform

Pension reform is crucial to balance the national budget, expand coverage and make the system more equitable. Despite this, the debate over the reform has been fraught with misinformation and confusion originating from different political vantage points. It will not be easy for the Government to move forward on pension reform, given the obvious political tension in the country. To a large extent, the future of the reform will depend on the Government's ability to listen to both technocrats and politicians and to do so as soon as possible to move the reform forward in 2020.
