The Orinoco Region Risk Index evaluates the risk level of the departments of Arauca, Casanare, Meta, and Vichada. The development of the departments still depends on the country's political center. It was found that the departments geographically closest to Bogotá have a higher level of development and opportunities.

This pattern is repeated within each department, as the municipalities with the lowest risk were the departmental capitals.
